Tension Rises at Federal Poly Bida: SUG Moves to Quell Strike Fears Ahead of Exams

In response to growing anxiety among students at the Federal Polytechnic Bida, the Students’ Union Government (SUG) has issued an urgent statement addressing rumors of a possible strike by academic staff just weeks before scheduled examinations.
According to a circular released by the SUG, signed by the Executive President Comrade Isaac Israel and General Secretary Comrade Aminat Owolabi, the union has been made aware of the rising concerns on campus stemming from the potential industrial action. The statement was aimed at calming nerves and reassuring students of the union’s proactive engagement with both management and academic staff.
“We wish to use this medium to appeal to all students to remain calm and composed,” the letter reads. “The Union is fully committed to ensuring that all necessary actions are taken to avoid any disruption to the forthcoming examinations.”
The SUG emphasized its dedication to safeguarding the welfare and academic progress of students, stressing that they are closely monitoring developments and will do everything in their power to maintain an uninterrupted academic calendar.
The letter ends with a rallying call in classic activist tone: “Aluta Continua! Victoria Ascerta!”
Students are urged to stay calm, stay focused on their studies, and trust that the union is working tirelessly to ensure their interests are protected during this critical period.
