What causes gas explosions?

Gas explosions mostly occur when there are leakages along the pipe or due to faulty regulators. Before you turn on your gas, make sure you pay attention to leakages, often indicated by an odor.

Ignition Sources: Gas explosions require an ignition source to trigger the explosion. Common ignition sources include open flames, sparks from electrical equipment, hot surfaces, static electricity, smoking, or even a small electrical spark caused by turning on a light switch.

Improper Ventilation: Poor ventilation can lead to the accumulation of gas in enclosed spaces. If the gas concentration reaches its lower explosive limit (LEL), a minor ignition source can cause a devastating explosion.

Equipment Malfunction: Malfunctioning or poorly maintained gas equipment, such as stoves, ovens, boilers, water heaters, or industrial machinery, can lead to gas leaks and subsequent explosions.
