Fire Engulfs Female Hostel at Federal Polytechnic Bida

A fire outbreak on Monday, January 27, 2025, gutted parts of the Sharon Hostel, a female residence at the Federal Polytechnic Bida in Niger State.

The cause of the fire remains unclear at the time of reporting. However, videos obtained by PolyTV show firefighters actively battling the blaze in an attempt to prevent further destruction.

Eyewitnesses report that the fire started earlier in the day, prompting students and security personnel to call for immediate intervention. While no casualties have been confirmed, the extent of damage to the building and students’ belongings is yet to be assessed.

Authorities at the polytechnic are expected to issue a formal statement as investigations into the incident continue.
