FedPoly Ayede Commences NBTE Mandatory Skills Qualification Training for Students

The Centre for Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development of Federal Polytechnic Ayede (FEDPA) has commenced training for another batch of students under the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) Mandatory Skills Qualification (MSQ) programme.
Speaking during the commencement of the programme, the Acting Rector of the institution, Engr. Dr. Temilola Morufat Adepoju, described the initiative as a major step towards producing graduates who are academically sound, practically skilled, and industry-ready.
According to her, the programme aligns with the Polytechnic’s commitment to equipping students with vocational and entrepreneurial skills needed to succeed in today’s competitive environment.
“This programme represents a significant step in our commitment to producing graduates who are not only academically sound but also practically skilled and industry-ready. In today’s dynamic and competitive environment, skills are the true currency of success, and academic knowledge alone is no longer sufficient,” she stated.
Dr. Adepoju noted that the ability to apply knowledge, solve real-life problems, and create value is what distinguishes successful graduates, adding that the initiative is designed to equip students with essential competencies for the future.
She encouraged students participating in the training to take advantage of the opportunity, stressing that the knowledge and skills acquired could shape their future and position them as creators of opportunities in society.
The Acting Rector also appreciated the facilitators, assessors, and partners involved in the programme for their dedication and support towards mentoring students and advancing skill development within the institution.
In her remarks, the Registrar of the Polytechnic, Mrs. Bukola Elizabeth Dairo, commended the organisers, facilitators, and trainees for their commitment to the programme. She also urged the students to make proper use of the opportunities provided through the training.
Earlier, the Acting Director of the Centre for Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development, Mr. Oluwaseun Christopher Owojori, described the exercise as the first Mandatory Skills Qualification (MSQ) programme since the establishment of the Polytechnic.
He advised students to take the training seriously, noting that the certificates to be awarded at the end of the programme are globally recognised and would improve their employability.
Owojori further explained that participants would undergo assessment by certified assessors before receiving their certificates to ensure that only qualified candidates are certified.
Also speaking, the Centre Manager, Engr. Adenle Adiatu, disclosed that the training covers several vocational and entrepreneurial skills, including electrical installation, solar power installation, painting and interior decoration, social media communication, hospitality and catering services, fashion design and garment making, cosmetology, computer hardware, plumbing, and event decoration.
Dignitaries present at the programme included the Acting Rector, Engr. Dr. T. M. Adepoju; the Registrar, Mrs. Bukola Elizabeth Dairo; the Bursar, Mr. Oluwaseyi Afolabi; the Acting Polytechnic Librarian, Mr. Dare Adeleke; as well as Deans, Directors, Heads of Departments and Units, staff, and students of the institution.
