Tears as ‘Hit and Run’ Vehicle Kills OGITECH Final Year Student

Less than a month to her sign-out, a “hit-and-run” vehicle on Sunday, August 6, 2023, Killed a final-year student of the Ogun State Institute of Technology Igbesa (OGITECH) along the highway in Igbesa, Ogun State.
The student, whose name is yet to be identified at the time of gathering this report, died as a result of the injury sustained in the accident.
A source who spoke to POLYTV said the reckless driver hit the student after driving through one way, and she died on the spot.
The polytechnic students, led by the student union and the National Association for Nigerian Students (NANS), shut down the polytechnic on Monday as they demanded justice for the deceased student.
The SUG president, comrade Michael Olalekan, has postponed the FYB week, which was earlier scheduled to commence today, till further notice.
“With sadness in our hearts and minds, we regret to announce the indefinite postponement of the final year brethren week due to the unfortunate incident that occurred to one of our colleagues that led to her unfortunate death.”
“The incident is sad and one that demands justice. We are assuring the student body that justice is on course to be served; we are getting positive reactions, and justice is definitely a priority for us.”
“We are using this medium to end all activities while we work for justice for our dear colleague.”
