The Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta, will graduate over 51,000 students during its 15th combined convocation ceremony scheduled for Tuesday, June 24.
The Rector, Dr Babatunde Jolaosho, disclosed this on Thursday at a press briefing, stating that the convocation covers nine academic sessions from 2015/2016 to 2023/2024.
It will be the institution’s first convocation since 2015.
Jolaosho also said that the polytechnic would confer its fellowship award on the former governor of the state, Chief Olusegun Osoba, former Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Princess Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire, as well as the Seriki of Egba land, Chief Tosin Owolabi Fadare.
He said, “This ceremony marks a significant milestone in the history of our great institution, as it will be the first convocation ceremony since the 2014/2015 academic session, covering nine academic sessions (2015/2016 to 2023/2024).
“This occasion, therefore, stands as a major achievement for this administration and indeed a testimony to the renewed spirit of progress within Mapoly.
“During the convocation ceremony, we shall be awarding National Diplomas (ND) and Higher National Diplomas (HND) to a combined total of over 51,000 graduands across various schools and departments of the Polytechnic. These include full-time and part-time graduates from all programmes.”
He added that the convocation lecture with the theme “Diaspora Perspective And The Influence of STEM In The Globalised World of Today” will be delivered by the Chairman of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, Dr Abike Dabiri-Erewa.
The rector explained that his administration is committed to rebranding and repositioning the 46-year-old institution to continually make it a citadel of excellence and a flagship in championing technological education
