Federal Polytechnic Ado-Ekiti Enforces Mandatory IT Completion Certificate for ND II Graduates

The Federal Polytechnic, Ado-Ekiti, has announced a new requirement for all National Diploma (ND) II graduates, mandating the collection of an Industrial Training (IT) Completion Certificate as a prerequisite for mobilization into the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).
This directive, issued by the Directorate of SIWES/Industrial Liaison, is in compliance with regulations set by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) and the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) in collaboration with NYSC. The memo, addressed to heads of academic departments and deans, emphasizes that the IT Completion Certificate is now a compulsory document for Higher National Diploma (HND) admissions and NYSC registration.
To ensure smooth implementation, academic heads have been instructed to inform and guide ND II students on the need to collect the certificate upon completion of their industrial training. The Directorate of Students Industrial Work Experience Scheme (D.SIWES) will be responsible for issuing the certificates.
Who Is Eligible for the IT Completion Certificate?
The directive outlines the following eligible categories for certificate collection:
- HND II students (2023/2024 Academic Session) – Required to collect the IT Completion Certificate promptly for NYSC mobilization.
- HND II students (2024/2025 Academic Session) – To follow the same procedure in the next session.
- HND I students (2024/2025 Academic Session) – Expected to obtain the certificate upon completion of their training.
- ND II students (2023/2024 Academic Session) – Required to collect the certificate after returning from Industrial Training. Those with Lower Credit and above must complete at least nine months of industrial training, while those with Pass Grade must complete a minimum of 18 months before obtaining the certificate.
This new policy is expected to enhance compliance with national education standards and streamline the process of NYSC mobilization and HND admissions. Students are encouraged to adhere to the directive to avoid delays in their academic and career progression.
