Federal Poly Bauchi Committed to Producing Quality Graduates – Rector

The Rector of Federal Polytechnic Bauchi, Sani Usman, has reaffirmed the institution’s dedication to academic excellence, emphasizing that the polytechnic will not compromise on the quality of graduates it produces.
Speaking at the 2024/2025 matriculation ceremony held on Saturday, Usman stressed that the school maintains a firm stance against examination malpractice and places high value on the credibility of its certificates.
“We cannot afford to send half-baked graduates into society after years of building this institution’s reputation,” he stated. “Every act of exam malpractice carries serious consequences. I urge all students to avoid anything that could undermine their academic integrity.”
He revealed that the Polytechnic is among the first in Nigeria to begin auditing examination scripts — a move aimed at preserving standards while ensuring students’ concerns are addressed fairly.
“To align with global best practices, we’ve installed CCTV cameras in many exam halls to curb malpractice and promote transparency,” he added.
The Rector further charged school management to guide students not just academically but also in developing the skills, values, and knowledge necessary for meaningful societal impact.
Sharing admission figures, Usman said the polytechnic received 6,928 applications for the current session. Out of this, 6,266 students were offered admission, with 5,068 completing registration — 3,151 at the National Diploma (ND) level and 1,917 at the Higher National Diploma (HND) level.
Also addressing the gathering, the Registrar, Kasimu Salihu, welcomed the freshers and underscored the importance of discipline and appropriate behavior.
“Discipline is a core value here. Indecent dressing is not allowed, and violations will attract sanctions. We expect every student to follow the dress code to maintain a focused learning environment,” Salihu said.
