The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has opened applications for its 2026 Skill Development Training and Empowerment Programme. This initiative is designed to equip youths in the Niger Delta with practical technical skills, recognized certifications, financial support, and starter resources to enhance employability and entrepreneurship opportunities.
Programme Overview
The NDDC Skill Development Programme provides participants with:
• Practical, Industry-Focused Training — Gain hands-on experience in high-demand technical fields.
• Monthly Stipend — Receive financial support throughout the duration of the training.
• Certification — Earn recognized credentials to boost your employability and credibility.
• Starter Packs or Tools — Access resources to start work or launch micro-enterprises after training.
For 2026, one of the standout courses is Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) Vehicle Conversion Training, offering practical expertise in a fast-growing transport and energy sector.
Eligibility Criteria
To qualify, applicants should meet the following requirements:
• Be an indigenous resident of one of the nine Niger Delta states: Abia, Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, Cross River, Delta, Edo, Imo, Ondo, or Rivers.
• Be between 18 and 35 years old.
• Hold a minimum of SSCE/WAEC in science-related subjects, OND (Sciences), or a recognized trade/test certificate.
• Possess technical qualifications in automotive, mechanical, or related trades (advantageous but not mandatory).
• Fresh graduates in engineering or technical fields with an interest in program offerings, such as CNG conversion, may also apply.
• Previous beneficiaries of NDDC Skill Programmes are not eligible for this cycle.
