Ado-Ekiti Polytechnic Part-time Graduates Protest NYSC Delay, Rector Promises Quick Resolution

Ado-Ekiti Polytechnic Part-time Graduates Protest NYSC Delay, Rector Promises Quick Resolution

Students of the Federal Polytechnic, Ado-Ekiti, stormed the institution on Monday to protest their exclusion from the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) mobilization list since 2024.

The aggrieved students expressed frustration over the delay, accusing the school management of negligence and calling for urgent action to prevent further setbacks in their careers. According to them, their future has been placed on hold because they cannot proceed with the mandatory service year without proper mobilization.

Carrying placards and chanting solidarity songs, the students appealed to the management to forward their details to the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) for regularization, which is a prerequisite for NYSC clearance.

In response, the Rector of the institution, Dr. Temitope Alake, assured the protesters that the management is fully aware of the situation. He disclosed that the backlog of affected students has been acknowledged and that the school is already working with the relevant authorities to fast-track the process.

Dr. Alake urged the students to remain calm, adding that steps are in place to ensure their mobilization is concluded soon so they can join the next NYSC batch.

This protest adds to the growing concerns among Nigerian graduates about bureaucratic hurdles that often delay their mobilization for the compulsory national service.
