JAMB Explains Delay in Release of 2026 UTME Original Result Slips

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has explained why candidates are still unable to print their 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination original result slips, urging affected students to remain calm as the process is still ongoing.
In a statement released on Tuesday, JAMB spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin, said the board had not yet activated the portal for printing the official UTME result slips due to ongoing examination processes and final adjustments.
According to the examination body, the delay is connected to the completion of foreign-based UTME examinations as well as preparations for the upcoming mop-up examination designed for candidates who missed the main exercise through no fault of their own.
JAMB noted that the UTME is not just an ordinary examination but a ranking system used to determine candidates’ placement into tertiary institutions across Nigeria. The board explained that the original result slip contains candidates’ rankings, making it necessary for all examination processes and evaluations to be fully completed before the slips can be made available for printing.
The board assured candidates that the portal would be activated shortly after all pending procedures and adjustments had been concluded.
JAMB also appealed to students, parents, and other stakeholders to exercise patience and understanding while the final stages of the exercise are being completed.
The delay has triggered reactions from several candidates on social media, with many expressing concerns over the inability to access their original scores ahead of post-UTME screenings, admission processing, and change of institution or course applications.
Many students said the delay was affecting their preparations for admission into universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education for the 2026 academic session.
The examination body, however, maintained that candidates would be officially informed once the printing portal becomes active.
The development comes shortly after JAMB announced 150 as the minimum cut-off mark for university admissions for the 2026 admission cycle in Nigeria.
JAMB had earlier provided candidates with the option of checking their UTME scores through SMS using their registered phone numbers, while the official result slips remain unavailable for printing.
