71 bag first class as Landmark University holds 11th convocation

Seventy-one students of Landmark University, Omu-Aran, Kwara State, graduated with First Class during the institution’s 11th convocation on Friday.
This marked the highest number of top-tier graduates in the school’s history.
The 11th Convocation Ceremony, themed “The Release of Pathfinders 2024,” was presided over by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Kolawole O. Ajanaku, who shared the remarkable achievements of the graduating class with an enthusiastic audience.
The event, according to a broadcast on the varsity’s website, is taking place at the Multipurpose Hall, Landmark University, Omu Aran, in the state.
In his address, Ajanaku remarked, “Today, we celebrate our highest number of First Class graduates since the inception of Landmark University, a testament to our relentless pursuit of academic excellence.”
He provided a breakdown of the graduating class noting that of “the 617 undergraduates, 283 earned Second Class Upper, 252 achieved Second Class Lower, and 11 were awarded Third Class degrees. Additionally, 61 postgraduate degrees were conferred, including 11 Ph.D.s, 6 Masters, and 11 Postgraduate Diplomas.”
“This is a landmark achievement. Our students have excelled across disciplines, showcasing the strength of our academic programmes and their own dedication to learning,” Ajanaku added.
Ajanaku also spotlighted the institution’s academic influence, announcing Landmark University’s prestigious standings in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings.
The university secured the 2nd position in Nigeria (shared with other institutions), 3rd in West Africa, and 11th in Sub-Saharan Africa.
“For the first time, Landmark has entered the world rankings, where we have emerged as a strong contender in Research Environment and Research Quality,” he noted.
Similarly, in a message of encouragement, the university celebrated the Class of 2024 on X: “Today, we celebrate the determination and achievements of our Class of 2024 as they step forward to make their mark on the world!
“Join us in honouring these exceptional graduates who have exemplified our core values and validated our vision and mission. Congratulations!”
Those in attendance during the convocation included Chancellor Dr. David Oyedepo, Pastor Mrs. Faith Oyedepo, and esteemed members of the Board of Regents.
