Plateau State University (PLASU) New School Fees and Bench Charges for 2025/2026 Academic Session

The management of Plateau State University (PLASU), Bokkos, has announced a new school fee structure for the 2025/2026 academic session, following approval by the University Council. The updated fees include a slight increase in tuition and the introduction of a ₦10,000 bench fee for all academic departments.

According to an internal memo issued by the Office of the Bursar and signed by Kerekkum Longsen Lawrence, the adjustments also include an increment of ₦5,000 on the school’s ICT development charge. The new fee policy takes immediate effect and applies to both new and returning students.

Increment Affects All Departments

The memo dated 15th September 2025, titled “Forwarding of New Fee Charge and Bench Fee,” was addressed to the Director of ICT and copied to the Vice-Chancellor. It explained that all departments—except 100, 200, and 300-level Accounting and Management Sciences—will be required to pay the ₦10,000 bench fee.

For 400-level Accounting and Management students, the bench fee also applies. The Bursar directed that all new charges be uploaded on the school’s online payment platform before the commencement of the new academic session.

“The Council of the University has approved a slight review in its fee schedule with an increment of Five Thousand Naira (₦5,000.00) on its ICT development charge and the payment of Ten Thousand Naira (₦10,000.00) as Bench Fee for all academic departments,” the memo read.

Mandatory Full Payment Policy Introduced

The Bursar stressed that beginning from the 2025/2026 academic session, students will no longer be allowed to pay fees in installments. All payments must be made in full before students can access university services or sit for examinations.

“You are also to note that there will be no part payment of school fees. From the 2025/2026 academic session, all fees must be paid once,” the memo emphasized.

Students were further advised to make all payments strictly through the approved university payment portal and ensure that receipts are properly documented for verification.

Bench Fee to Support Academic Departments

According to the memo, the newly introduced ₦10,000 bench fee is meant to support laboratory, workshop, and practical sessions across various departments. The university management stated that the fee will improve hands-on learning and ensure better maintenance of academic facilities.

The memo concluded by directing all units to upload the revised fee schedule on the payment platform and circulate the information to students before the new session begins.

University Management Urges Compliance

With this new directive, both indigenous and non-indigenous students of Plateau State University are urged to comply fully with the updated payment policy. The Bursar noted that students must settle all financial obligations in accordance with the approved calendar before any academic or administrative service is rendered.
