NELFUND Issues Warning Over Fake Student Loan Registration Portal

The Nigerian Education Loan Fund has cautioned students and the general public about a fraudulent message circulating across social media, falsely claiming that the Student Loan Registration Portal is currently open.
According to the advisory, the misleading announcement directs users to an unauthorised third-party link designed to harvest personal information. NELFUND confirmed that the link being shared is fake and does not belong to the Fund.
In an update posted on its official X account, the agency urged students to avoid clicking on suspicious links or submitting sensitive details to unverified websites. NELFUND stressed that the official student loan application portal can only be accessed through its verified digital channels.
The Fund also reminded applicants to stay vigilant online and immediately report any messages, websites, or social media posts impersonating NELFUND or promoting false registration links.
“Applicants should always confirm official updates through NELFUND’s verified website and social media platforms,” the agency advised.
This warning forms part of NELFUND’s wider efforts to protect students, prevent online fraud, and ensure the safety and credibility of the national student loan application system.
