Forestry technical education started in Nigeria with the establishment of school of forestry in Zaria in 1939. In the same year, the school was moved to Moor Plantation, Ibadan from where it was finally moved to the present site, Forest Hill, Jericho Ibadan in 1941.

The vision and mission of the college is To be a foremost institution of distinction, prepared for meeting needs of forestry related education and research

Mission to produce technical manpower affecting the sustainable development of forestry in Nigeria and Africa. To serve as a credible reference in all matters of forestry.
