IMAPOLY Partners NASITDEA to Harness Digital Literacy Benefits
To improve digital literacy of students, the Isa Mustapha Agwai l Polytechnic, Lafia, is partnering the Nasarawa State Information Technology and Digital Economy Agency (NASITDEA) for the development of the digital economy to harness the benefits the global ICT landscape for self-reliance and employment.
Digital literacy creates a platform for people to find, evaluate and communicate information using digital media platforms to create, evaluate and share information.
Acting Rector of the Polytechnic, Dr. Nurudeen Mu’azu Maifata, announced the partnership when he hosted a technical team from the Agency led by the Director-General in his office.
Dr. Maifata said it is imperative to key and advocate for digital literacy among the current and succeeding generations as that has the potential to minimise unemployment and optimise service delivery.
Dr. Maifata added that the collaboration would inject better results in areas such as management of plagiarism, cybersecurity, networking, entrepreneurship development and research development.
He promised to adhere strictly to the terms of the collaboration for a mutually beneficial outcome.
He lauded the NASITDEA boss for recognising the place of IMAP in advancing technical and technological developments in the state, stressing that graduates of the institution are employers of labour in different areas like computing technologies and many more.
On his part, Director-General/CEO of NASITDEA, Mr. Haruna Sani Sani while intimating the Rector on the modalities of the collaboration and its essence, explained that the value of digital economy is extremely important in the present-day development.
Sani said keying into digital economy world would ensure digital infrastructure, increased digital literacy, quality internship, curricular development, research development and economic growth.
Giving a vote of thanks, Registrar of the Polytechnic, Zamani Habu Ibrahim, appreciated NASITDEA for the collaboration, emphasising that the institution is particularly ready to work it out.
At the meeting were the Deputy Rector (Administration), Ahmad Jubrin Ibrahim, Deputy Rector (Academic), Louis John Ogah, Bursar, Zainab Dalhatu, Director of Information, Public Relations and Protocol, Mukhtar Wakeel, Director, Centre for Entrepreneurship Development, Dr. Shuaibu Safiyanu among others.
