I’ll Be Accessible to all Students – IMT ENUGU New Rector Tells Students

The Rector of the Institute of Management and Technology, Enugu, Professor Gozie Ogbodo has reassured the students that his appointment as the Rector of the Institute mark’s a new dawn in IMT, Enugu.
According to him, students will graduate happier under his watch. Addressing the students during the leadership retreat organised for the newly elected Student Union Executive, the first of its kind, the Rector stated that, he will not allow bureaucracy cage him and make it difficult for people especially students to access him.
Every good leader must be accessible, he said.
The Deputy Rector of the Institute, Dr. Emeka Patrick Ejim described the leadership retreat as a welcome development. Students are supposed to pass through some leadership training to prepare them for tomorrow. In his presentation, Dr Ejim remarked that every leader without wisdom is on a reverse gear.
Leaders must learn to set goals that are specific, measurable, achievable, relevant and time bound to be able to impact his people Dr. Ejim said.
On the other hand, Miss Ifeoma Nnamani, the programme officer Centre for Memories, Enugu said that leadership retreat of this nature is good for the youths. She appreciated the Management of the Institute for such a wonderful initiative. According to her, youths are full of Energy and ideas and deserve the training to be able to make good these ideas and their energy. She encouraged students to be leaders wherever they are. Leadership is not about position but about influence, she further said.


In his presentation, Mr Elochukwu Onyema Okoani referred the students to the popular statement by J.F Kennedy “Think of what you will do for your country and not what your country will do for you “. He encouraged the students to learn to be Servant Leaders as exemplified by Christ in the Bible.
