“I Want to Go to School But Have No Money” Here’s What to Do If You Have No Money to Sponsor Your Education

There are so many people who love to go to school, but they can’t continue with their education due to some financial challenges. While some students have to drop out of college because they can’t afford to pay school fees and other charges that come with education,

If you are in this situation and you have nobody to sponsor your education or you are thinking about what to do because you don’t have money to continue with your education, below is what you should do:

1. LEARN A SKILL OR START A BUSINESS.

If you don’t have money to sponsor yourself in school, the first thing you should do is quit school for now and learn a skill that will earn you money. Is there any skill that inspires you or any hand work you have interest in? Sign up for it and master it. If you have already been admitted to a university, college, or polytechnic, you can write to your school’s registrar or head of department and request a deferment of the academic session to give you time to learn this skill. Within one or two years, you would have mastered the skill. If you have an interest in doing business, you can do that as well as learn a skill.

2. INVEST IN THE SKILL.

After signing up for the skill and mastering it, you need to invest your time and efforts in the skill. For instance, if you sign up for web development, you will need money to buy a PC and a few other resources to keep the work alive. So try as much as possible to invest in the skill you have learned, as that is the best way to start from scratch and bounce back on track.

3. GET A JOB.

If you don’t have money to fund your skill, get a part-time job and use the salary to fund the skill that you have learned and begin to make money. This may take some time to achieve, but it doesn’t matter as long as you have the determination to go to school.

4. MAKE MORE MONEY.

Now that you already have a skill or a part-time job fetching you money, it’s time to make more money by doubling your income. You can decide to add some business with your skill to make more income. The more money you have, the higher your chance of returning to school. Make sure that you already have an inflow of income before returning to school.

5. RETURN TO SCHOOL.

By now, you should have been making money and have enough cash to fund your education. Apply to any school of your choice; I suggest you choose a polytechnic or a college because they have part-time, weekend, and distance learning programs that will make learning easier for you without disturbing your business or work.

A few years ago, I lost my dad, who was my sponsor, and there was no other option for me but to quit school because I couldn’t beg. I decided to learn a skill that really helped me, so I used the money I made from my business and skill to fund my education, and now I have graduated, and I’m glad that I was able to achieve my ambition, though the journey was tough, but it ended in joy.

If you know that your parents are not capable financially or that you have nobody to support your academic journey, I will advise you to focus on making money first; after that, you can now go back to school.

Age has nothing to do with education; you can go back to school at any age and time and achieve your ambition. Have you not seen popular celebrities and politicians now returning to school to pursue their careers? This is because education plays a greater role in our lives. Although education is not an automatic ticket to riches, it opens the door to many opportunities.

Should I Go Back To School Or Continue Working?

Yes, you need to go back to school, but before you consider that option, make sure that you have already saved enough money. Calculate all your financial needs. That is school fees for the academic sessions and other miscellaneous expenses you will need. If you can afford it, go back to school, and if you can’t at the moment, keep working till you have enough money. There is no age limit for education, even some of our lecturers got their master’s degrees and PhDs while already in service. That is to tell you that you need money for education, so continue working till you have enough money to fund your education.
