How to Print Your BVN Slip in Nigeria Easily

The Bank Verification Number (BVN) has become one of the most important tools for financial security in Nigeria. Introduced by the Central Bank of Nigeria, the BVN is a unique 11-digit identifier that connects all your bank accounts under a single identity. This system helps fight fraud, strengthens banking security, and ensures safer digital transactions.

While most people know their BVN, very few realize how important it is to have a printed copy of the BVN slip. This slip is often requested for opening new bank accounts, loan applications, pension withdrawals, and other financial services. If you’ve ever wondered how to print your BVN slip in Nigeria, here’s a simple guide.

Requirements Before Printing Your BVN Slip

To print your BVN slip successfully, you’ll need to meet the following conditions:

  1. A Registered BVN
You must already have a BVN created at any Nigerian bank. If you don’t, visit your bank to register. The slip is essentially a document that carries your BVN along with personal details.
  2. Knowledge of Your BVN
Keep your BVN safe. You’ll need it when requesting the slip. If you’ve forgotten your number, you can retrieve it easily by dialing 5650# on the mobile line linked to your bank account.

How to Print BVN Slip Online via NIBSS Portal

The Nigeria Inter-Bank Settlement System (NIBSS) provides an online platform where you can validate and print your BVN slip. Here’s how:

  1. Visit the official NIBSS BVN validation portal.
  2. Enter your BVN in the required field.
  3. Provide additional details to authenticate your identity.
  4. Pay the required service fee (payment options are available on the site).
  5. Once verified, download and print your BVN slip directly from the portal.

This option is convenient, especially if you prefer handling the process from home or your office.

How to Print BVN Slip at Your Bank Branch

If you prefer a traditional method, you can request your BVN slip directly at any bank branch.

  1. Visit your bank during working hours (off-peak times help reduce waiting).
  2. Present a valid government-issued ID such as your National Identity Card, International Passport, Driver’s License, or Voter’s Card.
  3. Request for your BVN slip from the customer service desk.
  4. Some banks may ask you to complete a short request form.
  5. The bank official will print your BVN slip, and in some cases, they can also send a digital copy to your registered email.

Note: Some banks may charge a small fee for this service.

You May Need a BVN Slip for:

  • Opening new bank accounts
  • Loan applications and approvals
  • Pension and retirement fund access
  • Financial dispute resolution
  • Identity verification for fintech services

Without a BVN slip, you may experience delays when applying for services that require proof of financial identity.
