House committee on Higher Education, KSHA, Visits Kano Polytechnic on Oversight Visit
The management of Kano State Polytechnic has on Tuesday 7th May, 2024 received members of the Kano State House of Assembly Committee on Higher Education who came on oversight visit.
Speaking during the visit, the Deputy and the Ag. Rector, Dr. Muhammad Umar Kibiya expressed his appreciation, on behalf of the entire KSP community, over the visit, noting that it was timely and very appreciative.
He further highlighted some of the major achievements recorded by the current management of the Institution which include the successful conduct of accreditation exercise for over 70 programs and resource inspection for 5 additional programs and he appealed for the committee’s support whenever the need arises.
Dr. Kibiya further informed the committee that the Institution continues receiving monthly overhead from the state government, under the sterling leadership of His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Kano State, Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf after more than 20 years of its stoppage.
He equally listed some of the ongoing projects at different unit schools of the Institution, such as the ongoing construction of wall fencing at the School of Environmental Studies, Gwarzo, the ongoing construction of skills acquisition center at the Centre for General Studies, the ongoing construction of staff offices at School of Technology and School of Management Studies as well as at School of Rural Technology and Entrepreneurship Development, Rano, and the ongoing construction of students’ hostels as well as the successful takeoff of the School of Science and Health Allied, Gwamai, among others.
He appreciated the caliber of members of the Committee whom he described as competent and eligible for the task.
Earlier in his remarks, the Chairman of the Committee, Hon. Abdul AbdulHamid Minjibir explained that the committee is tasked with the responsibility to oversee the affairs of all Kano State-owned tertiary institutions. Therefore, they came to appraise the 2024 budget performance and to oversee the various schools under Kano State Polytechnic for fact findings about their conditions towards enhancing service delivery.
He appreciated the management for the warm reception accorded to them and commended the Ag. Rector for a well-articulated updates presented to them.
The chairman further assured that the committee will work hand in hand with the KSP management toward improving the standard of the Institution so as to augment the effort of the State government in providing adequate educational opportunities to the good people of Kano State and beyond.
Other members during the visit were Hon. Lawan Hussain, Member representing Dala Local Government Constituency; Hon. Aminu Sa’ad Ungogo, Member representing Ungogo Local Government Constituency; and Hon. Lawal Tini, Member representing Ajingi Local Government Constituency.
