The management of Federal Polytechnic Ohodo has officially welcomed a new batch of students during its 3rd Matriculation Ceremony held on Friday, May 22, 2026, at the institution’s main campus in Enugu State.

The colourful academic event marked the formal admission of newly enrolled students into the Polytechnic community and attracted top government officials, education stakeholders, traditional rulers, religious leaders, staff, parents, and students.

The ceremony was led by the Rector of the institution, Dr. Ediri Emmanuel Agada, alongside members of the Polytechnic management, directors, deans, heads of departments, union leaders, and representatives of the Students’ Union Government.

Several dignitaries graced the occasion, including Hon. Livinus Asogwa, a member of the Polytechnic Governing Council and representative of the Ohodo community; the Vice-Chancellor of University of Nigeria, Nsukka, Prof. Simon Ortuanya, represented by Prof. Anthony Amaechi Attamah, Director of Academic Planning; the Registrar of the university, Dr. Celine Ngozi Nebedum; Hon. Religious leaders and members of the academic community were also present to witness the milestone event.

Speaking during the matriculation ceremony, the Rector congratulated the newly admitted students and advised them to remain disciplined, focused, and dedicated to their studies throughout their academic journey.

He emphasized the institution’s commitment to providing quality technical and vocational education capable of preparing students for national development and global competitiveness. According to him, the Polytechnic has continued to record academic progress, especially with the successful accreditation of additional National Diploma (ND) and Higher National Diploma (HND) programmes by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE).

Dr. Agada also reiterated the institution’s strict stance against cultism, examination malpractice, drug abuse, violence, and other social vices. He encouraged students to take advantage of the learning opportunities available within the institution and uphold good conduct at all times.

The Rector further appealed to the government and relevant stakeholders to sustain support for the infrastructural development of the Polytechnic. He specifically highlighted the need for the construction of the access road leading to the institution’s permanent site, noting that the project had earlier received assurance from the Executive Governor of Enugu State, Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, during a recent engagement with the Polytechnic leadership.

One of the major highlights of the event was the administration of the matriculation oath on the newly admitted students by the institution’s Registrar, Dr. Obini Onuchukwu.

Some of the matriculated students, while speaking with journalists after the ceremony, expressed appreciation to the management of the Polytechnic for giving them the opportunity to pursue their academic ambitions.
