Fedpoly Bauchi Installs CCTV Cameras To Curb Exam Malpractice

The Federal Polytechnic, Bauchi, has installed Closed-circuit Television (CCTV) cameras in select examination halls to combat examination malpractices and improve campus security.
Rector of the institution, Alhaji Sani Usman, disclosed this while speaking with journalists during the 2025 resource inspection and accreditation visit by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) on Sunday.
He said: “We’ve installed cameras in key classrooms, leveraging solar inverters now available in many of our halls.
“Additionally, we’re finalising a TETFund-supported research project from the last two years, which will allow us to expand CCTV coverage beyond classrooms to outdoor areas.”
The initiative, he added, was part of broader efforts to curb both exam malpractice and security breaches around the institution.
Speaking on the NBTE visit, the Rector said the accreditation exercise was crucial in evaluating the institution’s performance over the past five years and ensuring its academic programmes, personnel, and equipment remain up-to-date.
He confirmed that 78 programmes were reviewed by the NBTE during the exercise. “The team has completed their visit, and we now await their findings,” he added.
Meanwhile, Director of Polytechnic Programmes and Team Lead for the NBTE team, Dr. Fatima Umar, represented by Mr. Adesina Oluade, urged the institution to address infrastructure and manpower gaps.
She highlighted issues such as the lack of student handbooks, academic journals, and unstable power supply as areas requiring urgent attention.
Umar emphasised that the accreditation process aimed to reinforce quality assurance and pledged a fair and transparent evaluation of the institution.
