Ekiti Varsity VC seeks Support For Funding
Vice-Chancellor of The Federal University, Oye Ekiti, Prof. Kayode Soremekun, has called on stakeholders to rally round public universities by assisting them with the needed financial and material support which will aid their development.
He said education, particularly university education, was financially demanding, added that support from stakeholders like parents, corporate organisations and local government authorities were necessary because of the relatively low fees public universities charge.
The VC, who spoke at Oye Ekiti during an interaction with journalists, said, aiding the universities was necessary to keep the institutions up to date in the areas of academics, research and infrastructure.
He said, “The government, in view of its numerous responsibilities, cannot fund education alone. It has to be a joint venture between and among the various stakeholders.”
