Ekiti State Polytechnic produces first SUG President

History was made at Ekiti State Polytechnic, Isan-Ekiti, as the Institution produced its first president of the Students’ Union Government (SUG) in an election conducted on Thursday, October 31, 2024. The election brought students together in a democratic process to select leaders for the newly established union. To ensure a free and fair process, the event was closely monitored by external leaders from various unions, reinforcing the integrity of the voting exercise.
The election featured 10 candidates vying for 7 different positions. With some positions uncontested, only the posts of President and General Secretary saw multiple aspirants.
Election Results and Positions
1. President
Ojo Victor won the presidential seat in a close contest against Oguntuase Victor and Otitoju Toba. Ojo secured 45 votes, with Oguntuase and Otitoju receiving 21 and 22 votes, respectively.
2. General Secretary
The General Secretary race was a tight contest between Adeyemo Abigail and Ogbole Joshua. Abigail emerged victorious with 44 votes, defeating Joshua, who garnered 39 votes.
3. Vice President
Lady Comr. Ogungbola Timilehin ran unopposed and was elected with 80 votes.
4. Director of Welfare
Lady Comr. Jegede Paulina secured the position of Director of Welfare with 77 votes, running unopposed.
5. Director of Social
Comr. Oyebi Oluwaseun was elected as Director of Social with a total of 74 votes, also unopposed.
6. Director of Sports
Comr. Oluwadare Ojo, running unopposed, was elected as Director of Sports with 77 votes.
7. Public Relations Officer (PRO)
Comr. Adekunle Samuel assumed the role of Public Relations Officer with 77 votes, running unopposed.
This historic event marks a new chapter in the Polytechnic’s commitment to strengthening student representation and leadership
