BREAKING: NAPS Declares Support for NANS President, Warns Against Impostors

The National Association of Polytechnic Students (NAPS) has reaffirmed its commitment to unity and the advancement of Nigerian students while warning against individuals falsely claiming leadership positions within the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS).
In a press statement issued by Comrade Oyewumi Festus Ayomide, the National President of NAPS, the organization emphasized that the only recognized and legitimate President of NANS is Comrade Olushola Oladoja. Any attempt by other individuals or groups to claim this position, according to NAPS, constitutes an act of illegitimacy and misrepresentation.
“We strongly condemn any attempts to divide the student movement through fraudulent claims. Such actions not only undermine our unity but also distract from the pressing issues affecting Nigerian students,” the statement read.
NAPS also raised concerns over a factional figure allegedly parading himself as the President of NANS and seeking political validation. The association called on former Vice President of Nigeria, Dr. Atiku Abubakar, to distance himself from the said imposter, who is reportedly attempting to leverage their shared name for personal and political gains.
“We urge His Excellency, Dr. Atiku Abubakar, to be wary of this individual who is exploiting his name for selfish reasons,” Comrade Oyewumi warned.
Reaffirming its stance on justice and credibility, NAPS vowed to work closely with the legitimate leadership of NANS under Comrade Olushola Oladoja to ensure students’ voices are represented with integrity.
NAPS further called on students, stakeholders, and the general public to support the authentic leadership of NANS while disregarding distractions from individuals with ulterior motives.
“As student leaders, we remain committed to the progress of polytechnic, monotechnic, and college of technology students across Nigeria. We will not allow divisive tactics to derail our mission,” the statement concluded.
The declaration from NAPS signals a firm stance against factionalism within student leadership, reinforcing unity as a crucial pillar for advancing the interests of Nigerian students.
