YEIDEP Postpones Business Grant Disbursement, Warns Nigerians Against Fake News and Scams

The Youth Economic Intervention and De-Radicalization Programme (YEIDEP) has announced the postponement of its business grant disbursement initially scheduled for October 20, 2025.
According to a statement from the programme’s Coordinator-General, Mr. Kennedy Iyere, the decision was taken to ensure a transparent, accountable, and accurate distribution process that upholds the integrity of the initiative.
Transparency Before Disbursement
Mr. Iyere explained that the delay was necessary to finalize proper verification and auditing mechanisms. He emphasized that YEIDEP remains committed to empowering Nigerian youths through genuine financial support, but will not compromise transparency in the process.

Beware of Fake News and Online Fraudsters
The coordinator also warned applicants to disregard viral social media posts claiming that grant payments had already started. He described such information as false and misleading, noting that online scammers are exploiting the programme’s popularity to defraud unsuspecting Nigerians.
“We caution all registered applicants and potential beneficiaries to ignore fake news circulating online that YEIDEP has begun paying grants,” Iyere warned.
“Fraudsters are behind these messages, attempting to deceive and extort innocent people. All YEIDEP benefits are completely free—no applicant is required to pay for registration, processing, or disbursement.”
New Registration Date for Batch B
Mr. Iyere further announced that the YEIDEP registration portal will reopen on Monday, October 27, 2025, for the enrolment of Batch B applicants. He reaffirmed that the initiative is focused on inclusiveness, transparency, and genuine youth empowerment across Nigeria.
“We are dedicated to the success of this programme and to ensuring that every verified member receives their due benefit,” he added.
Official Communication Channels Only
The coordinator urged Nigerians to rely only on YEIDEP’s verified communication platforms—its official website, Facebook page, and YouTube channel—for updates on registration and grant disbursement.
He reiterated that any message or platform requesting payment to access grants is fraudulent and should be reported immediately.
Fighting Unemployment and Youth Poverty
The YEIDEP initiative is part of ongoing national efforts to promote entrepreneurship, reduce youth unemployment, and discourage radicalization by creating meaningful economic opportunities. The programme offers business support, mentorship, and access to startup funding for young Nigerians with viable business ideas.
With thousands of youths already registered under Batch A, expectations remain high as the programme moves toward full disbursement once the necessary verification process is completed.
