Tributes Pour In as Adeseun Ogundoyin Polytechnic Holds Commendation Service for Late Engr. Wole A. Ayanrinde

Adeseun Ogundoyin Polytechnic, Eruwa (AOPE), on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, held a solemn commendation and tribute service in honour of the late Engr. Wole A. Ayanrinde, who served as the institution’s Director of Daily Part-Time Programmes and Professional Studies until his passing.

The event, held at the institution’s chapel, attracted family members, friends, colleagues, students, professional associates, and distinguished guests who gathered to celebrate the life, service, and enduring legacy of the late administrator and engineer.

In his opening remarks, the Rector of the Polytechnic, Professor Jonathan O. Adedokun, represented by the Deputy Rector, Dr. Akin Oke, paid glowing tribute to the late Engr. Ayanrinde, describing him as a dedicated professional whose contributions significantly impacted the growth and development of the institution.

According to the Rector, Engr. Ayanrinde’s commitment to excellence, visionary leadership, and unwavering dedication to institutional advancement left an indelible mark on the Polytechnic community.

“Engr. Ayanrinde’s legacy of commitment to excellence and institutional development will forever be remembered. His visionary leadership, passion, and tireless dedication set standards that will continue to inspire both staff and students. We honour his memory and remain committed to sustaining the values he championed during his time with us,” he stated.

A documentary presentation showcasing the life, achievements, and numerous contributions of the late engineer formed one of the highlights of the programme. The presentation reflected his dedication to education, professional excellence, and the advancement of the institution throughout his years of service.

Several tributes were delivered by colleagues, professional bodies, friends, and associates, all of whom described Engr. Ayanrinde as an exceptional leader, mentor, and administrator whose influence extended far beyond the Polytechnic community.

In recognition of his remarkable contributions, the institution officially renamed its Centre for Part-Time Programmes and Professional Studies as the Engr. Wole Ayanrinde Building, creating a lasting memorial in honour of his service and commitment.

Speaking on behalf of the family, Rev. Dare Ayanrinde expressed heartfelt appreciation to the management, staff, professional colleagues, and associates of the institution for organizing a befitting commendation service and for the overwhelming support extended to the family.

He noted that the encouragement, prayers, and kind gestures received during the period of mourning had provided immense comfort to the family. He also urged people to cultivate the habit of celebrating and appreciating others while they are still alive.

Delivering the exhortation, Pastor Adekanye Adedigba of RCCG Province 4, Ibadan, spoke on the theme, “Time and Season,” drawing his message from Ecclesiastes 3:1–4. He reminded the congregation that life is transient and emphasized four important lessons: the temporary nature of life, the certainty of death, the importance of living a life of impact, and the need to prepare for eternity.

Referencing Proverbs 10:7, 2 Corinthians 6:2, James 4:14, and Hebrews 9:27, he encouraged attendees to live purposefully, uphold godly values, and maintain a right relationship with God.

He concluded with a thought-provoking reminder that, “The greatest gift to a man is not how long he lived, but how well he lived.”

Special prayers for the bereaved family and the institution were subsequently offered by Pastor Ibukun Adewusi and Evangelist Abiola Jesulowo.

As part of the ceremony, the institution presented Books of Tributes to the family of the deceased and the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) in recognition of the late engineer’s professional accomplishments and contributions.

In her vote of thanks, the Registrar of the institution, Mrs. Funmilayo Bosede Akintunde, expressed gratitude to the Governing Council, management, staff, family members, and all attendees for their prayers, support, and solidarity throughout the period.

The commendation service concluded with a closing prayer delivered by Rev. Adegbite.

Among the dignitaries present were members of the institution’s management team led by the Deputy Rector, Dr. Akin Oke, representing the Rector; the immediate past Acting Rector, Dr. Gbade Akinteye; the wife and children of the deceased; family members from Ibadan and Ibarapa; the Chairman of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (Ibadan Branch); members of the Old Students’ Association and AOPE Alumni Association; community and religious leaders; representatives of ASUP, SSANIP, and NASU; Deans, Directors, Heads of Departments; members of the Students’ Union Government; as well as numerous friends and associates of the late Engr. Wole A. Ayanrinde.

The Management, Staff, and Students of Adeseun Ogundoyin Polytechnic, Eruwa, expressed appreciation to everyone who attended the service and offered prayers for the peaceful repose of the deceased while seeking God’s comfort, strength, and guidance for the family, professional colleagues, and loved ones he left behind.
