Federal Polytechnic Idah Unveils Proposed Students’ Union Government Complex

The Students’ Union Government (SUG) of Federal Polytechnic Idah has taken a significant step towards enhancing student representation and welfare with the official unveiling of its proposed SUG Complex project.
The foundation-laying ceremony, held on the Polytechnic campus, marked the commencement of the ambitious project aimed at providing a dedicated facility for student union activities and administrative operations.
The ceremony was performed on behalf of the Rector of the institution, Dr. Y. B. Usman, by the Deputy Rector (Academics), Dr. Muhammad I. Yusufu. Speaking at the event, the Rector commended the leadership of the Students’ Union Government for initiating the project, describing it as a laudable effort that would contribute positively to student development and engagement within the institution.
He assured the student body of the Management’s full support towards the successful completion of the project and reiterated the importance of sustaining a harmonious and productive relationship between the Students’ Union Government and the Polytechnic Management.
In his address, the SUG President, Comrade Amos TankGod Ugbedeojo, expressed gratitude to the Rector’s representative and other distinguished guests for their presence and support. He noted that the project reflects the union’s commitment to leaving a lasting legacy for students and pledged to work closely with the institution’s Management to ensure its successful execution.
The event attracted several principal officers and stakeholders of the Polytechnic, including the representative of the Registrar, Mr. A. I. Akwodi; the Bursar, Mr. Ibrahim Uba Usman; the Dean of Students’ Affairs, Engr. Friday Omagu; the Head of the Department of Social Sciences and Humanities, Dr. Paul Haruna; and the Director of SERVICOM, Dr. Moses Africa, among others.
The foundation-laying ceremony was coordinated by the Deputy Registrar, Public Relations and Protocol Unit, Mr. S. S. Omale.
The proposed SUG Complex is expected to serve as a central hub for student union activities, fostering effective leadership, communication, and engagement among students while supporting the overall development of the Polytechnic community.
