The 3 Best Loan Apps in Nigeria: My Recommendations as a Legal Adviser
The current economic situation in Nigeria isn’t exactly looking up, and it seems like the President isn’t doing much about it for now. As a result, many Nigerians have fallen prey to fake loan apps that are just out to take advantage.
Some of these loan apps are neither registered nor approved by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN). So, if you choose to use them, you’re essentially taking a huge risk. Anything that happens with those apps is on you, so you better be prepared for what comes your way.
After extensive research, here are the 3 loan apps I can confidently recommend to you:
Branch
Branch stands out as one of the most considerate loan apps when it comes to interest rates. Their customer service is top-notch too. No aggressive calls to your contacts if you miss a payment, no harassment with endless calls. Plus, they’re properly registered and approved by the CBN.
FairMoney
FairMoney offers loans of up to ₦3,000,000, which is great for Nigerians in urgent need of cash. But I’ll warn you—their interest rates can be quite high and might just raise your blood pressure. On the plus side, they don’t call your contacts when you miss payments. Instead, their customer care team is known for being professional, calm, and helpful in negotiating easy repayment terms. They are also fully registered with the CBN.
Carbon
Carbon is the go-to app for salary earners, especially government workers. It’s also a solid option for students needing a loan for their education. The app offers a variety of services and, while their interest rates aren’t the lowest, they’re manageable for most. Just be warned—the rates can still make you sweat a little. They are registered and approved by the CBN.
For me, these are the only three loan apps I trust and recommend. Anything else? I’m not touching it with a 10-foot pole.
