Polytechnics With the Best and Efficient Students’ Union Government (SUG)

The purpose of this report is to make Nigerian students aware of the best and most functioning students’ union government, especially now that SUGs are no longer active like they were in the past.

Let’s take a brief look at the best and most efficient student union government among other polytechnics in Nigeria.

POLYTECHNICS WITH THE BEST STUDENT’S UNION GOVERNMENT (SUG)

 1. Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic SUG.

The student union government of Akwapoly has performed well in recent years. During our research, we were able to establish that the SUG has been trying its best when it comes to the students’ welfare and protecting their interests. We hope that the student leaders will uphold their leadership tactics in the years to come.

2. Federal Polytechnic Bida SUG.

Federal polytechnic Bida SUG is doing well, and the SUG President and his executives deserve accolades for fighting for the students’ interests. Most of the students we spoke to acknowledged the student union to be efficient, and we verified their performance to be the best.

3. Abubakar Tatari Ali Polytechnic SUG

The ATAPOLY Bauchi Students Union is trying its best, and considering their dialogue skills, they truly deserve to be awarded among the best student unions.

 4. Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin SUG

Kwara Poly SUG is one of the best and most efficient student unions in Nigeria. Although the SUG’s best may not be enough for the students, considering how they stood behind the students against unwanted management decisions is a valid reason to give them kudos. 

Most SUGs will give up easily after pressure from the school authority, but the school SUGs are vibrant and efficient in their way. We just hope that the union will not relent in speaking out for the students.

5. AIFPU SUG. 

We must commend the students union government of the Akanu Ibiam Federal Polytechnic, Ebonyi State, for their activeness in attending to the students’ needs and their interests. In all the polytechnics in the southeast, AIFPU stands out as the best and most vibrant student union. 

Before we published this report, we did our survey and compared and contrasted the polytechnics in Nigeria. AIFPU is one of the best. The SUG deserves an award. Although they also have their own flaws, they are indeed trying.

6. Fed Poly Oko SUG. 

Federal polytechnic students have suffered from bad leadership in the past, but in recent years, the SUG has written their name in gold and proved that there are still efficient student unions in Nigeria. Oko Poly SUG tops the list of the best SUGs in Nigeria. Some of the students may not agree with this, but if they can go to other schools, they will appreciate that their SUG is truly doing well and is the best among equals.

7. Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY) SUG.

MAPOLY is a great citadel of learning, and their SUG has been efficient. This list will be incomplete if we do not acknowledge the efforts of the union. The SUG still needs to do better, but for now, MAPSU is one of the best student union governments in Nigeria.

8. POLYIBADAN SUG.

The Polytechnic Ibadan SUG is one of the best and most efficient student unions in Nigeria. The SUG is vibrant and a doer of their words; they always voice out for the students interests. It is only in Poly Ibadan that SUG will lock up the school gate to pressure for their demands, and management will succumb.

9. OSUN STATE POLYTECHNIC IREE SUG.

OSPOLY SUG are not errand boys for the school management. From time immemorial, the SUG executives, from past to present, have been vibrant and efficient in all three Cs of Aluta. According to our research, in all the polytechnics in the south-west, we were able to establish that the OSPOLY students union remains the best of the best.

10. Auchi Polytechnic SUG.

The students union of the Federal Polytechnic Auchi is one of the best SUGs in Nigeria. The union is efficient when it comes to speaking out for the students and fighting for their rights. The SUG is always on the students’ side, and they deserve the award for their unrelenting efforts in bridging the gap between the students and the school management.

11. IMT ENUGU SUG 

The student union government of the Institute of Management and Technology (IMT) Enugu is performing its duties as expected by the students and is efficient in handling their complaints. They always try their best to see that the students’ rights are never violated. Yes, the union has its own weaknesses, but they have performed excellently, if not in all aspects but in major aspects.

12. FEDERAL POLYTECHNIC ILE-OLUJI SUG.

The student’s union of the federal polytechnic Ile-Oluji is efficient in its roles and duties. Considering their closeness to the students, the SUG also has good communication skills with their students, which is rare in other schools.

In conclusion, when we are talking about good leadership and efficient student union government, this list will be incomplete without the student unions listed above.
