Polytechnics That Don’t Write Post UTME in Nigeria (2025 Update)

If you’re tired of writing exams after exams just to gain admission, here’s some good news: not all polytechnics in Nigeria conduct Post UTME. Yes, you read that right. Some reputable institutions have done away with the extra test and instead focus on a screening process that considers your JAMB score and O’level results.

This is great for candidates who have performed reasonably well in JAMB and have solid O’level grades but want to avoid the stress of preparing for yet another exam. If you’re looking for where to apply without the extra hurdle of Post UTME, this article is for you. Let’s go through the full list of polytechnics in Nigeria that no longer conduct Post UTME and what you should know about their screening methods.

What Does “No Post UTME” Mean?

In these schools, admission isn’t based on sitting for another test after JAMB. Instead, they conduct online or physical screening. This means your aggregate score (usually a weighted average of your JAMB score and O’level results) determines whether you’ll be admitted or not.

For instance, a polytechnic may use:

  • 50% JAMB score
  • 50% O’level grades (WAEC, NECO, or NABTEB)

So, as long as you meet the cutoff mark and your documents are in order, you stand a good chance.

How to Improve Your Chances Without Post UTME

Since these schools use aggregate scores, it’s important to do well in both JAMB and your O’level exams. Here are a few tips:

  • Aim for a minimum JAMB score of 160 or above (higher for competitive courses).
  • Use two sittings wisely if needed, but one sitting is usually preferred.
  • Ensure your O’level results are well-balanced, especially in English, Mathematics, and course-specific subjects.
  • When filling out the application, upload clear and accurate documents to avoid disqualification.
In conclusion, if you’re among the many students who dread Post UTME, now you know where to apply without facing that hurdle. The polytechnics listed above offer a more straightforward process. All you need is a decent JAMB score, good O’level results, and timely application. Focus on putting together your credentials, and you could be on your way to studying at a reputable institution without writing any extra exams.
