Plateau Lecturers Threaten to Resume Suspended Strike
The Joint union of Plateau state owned tertiary institutions (JUPTI), has issued 7days notice to the state government to address their demands as failure to do so will lead to an indefinite strike.
Comrade longbaam, JUPTI chairman said this while addressing pressmen after their emergency meeting held on Tuesday 24th May, 2022 at plateau state Polytechnic Jos campus.
He stated that the state government is yet to fulfill the agreement reached with them on 15th of December, 2021 and that of 14th June 2019. Some of the lingering issues include, “Non consolidation of Salary Structure of Tertiary Institutions, Non payment of Third Party Deductions alongside salaries, Non implementation of Peculiar Allowances, Non implementation of promotion since 2021, Non release of 25% TSA withheld funds totaling N460 million, Non release of 24 months Pension Arrears of Retirees, Non Implementation of Capital budget in all the Tertiary Institutions among other contending issues.”
During the union meeting, it was resolved that if Government fail to addressed these lingering issues within seven (7) days with effect from Tuesday, 24″ of May, 2022 to Midnight of Wednesday, 1 June, 2022 the Union will be left with no option than to resume it earlier suspended strike.
