OGITECH Begins Construction of Ultra-Modern Science Laboratory Complex to Boost Innovation and Research

The Ogun State Institute of Technology has taken a significant step toward advancing science and technology education with the commencement of construction on a state-of-the-art Science Laboratory Technology complex.

The groundbreaking ceremony for the ultra-modern facility was held on Monday, May 18, 2026, at the institution’s campus in Igbesa, Ogun State. The event was led by the Rector, Dr. Abiodun Babatunde Oluseye, alongside members of the institution’s management team, academic staff, and other key stakeholders.

Speaking during the ceremony, the Rector described the project as a landmark development that reflects the institution’s commitment to academic excellence, technological advancement, and innovation-driven education. He noted that the new laboratory complex would provide students with improved practical exposure and create a stronger foundation for scientific research and hands-on learning.

According to Dr. Oluseye, the facility is expected to position OGITECH as one of Nigeria’s leading institutions for technological education and applied scientific research. He emphasized that modern educational infrastructure remains essential for preparing students to compete effectively in today’s rapidly evolving global economy.

The Rector also commended Dr. Oladipo Folashade for her leadership and contributions to the growth of the Department of Science Laboratory Technology. Dr. Oluseye stated that beyond its benefits to students and lecturers, the new laboratory complex would contribute meaningfully to scientific development, research innovation, and capacity building within the wider community.
