OYSCATECH Public Administration Marks 10 Years with Drug Donations, Awards, and Cultural Fiesta

The Public Administration Department (PAD) of Oyo State College of Agriculture and Technology (OYSCATECH), Igboora, has marked its 10th anniversary in grand style with a week-long celebration that blended charity, culture, sports, and recognition of excellence.
The event, which also coincided with the National Association of Public Administration Students (NAPADS) Week, was graced by the Rector of OYSCATECH, Prof. Akinola Akinlabi, alongside other principal officers including Deputy Rector, Dr. Wasiu Raheem; the Registrar, Mr. R.F.A. Adeniji (represented by Mr. Olajire Gbadamosi); and the Bursar, Mr. Modupe Ogundapo.
Festivities kicked off with a hospital outreach where essential drugs were donated to the OYSCATECH Health Centre. Other highlights included an excursion to the National Museum of Unity, Ibadan, a colourful cultural day, a comic football match between alumni and lecturers, and an award ceremony recognizing outstanding contributions from staff, students, and alumni.
In his address, Head of Department, Mr. Abiodun Badmus, expressed pride in the department’s achievements over the past decade. According to him, PAD has produced over 2,873 graduates—2,318 National Diploma holders and 555 Higher National Diploma holders—many of whom are excelling in their careers. He also noted that the department has produced 63 graduates with distinction, several student leaders, and won multiple trophies at the Students Union Government level.
Prof. Akinlabi, the Rector, commended the department for its impact on students and for hosting the Institute of Local Government and Public Administration’s professional examination centre at OYSCATECH, which further enhances the institution’s academic standing.
The celebration also featured awards to distinguished personalities. Former lecturers Mrs. Gift Akinkunmi Ilori, Mr. Ismail Alli, and Dr. Matthew Kayode Amao were honoured for their academic contributions and mentorship. Community Service Awards went to Mrs. Helen Opeyemi Olawore, Deputy Registrar (Public & Alumni Relations), and Arc. Ayobami Matthew Ilori for their outstanding roles in student mentorship and community development.
Mr. Badmus himself was recognized with an Award of Excellence in Leadership, while the NAPADS Staff Adviser, Mr. Damola Akanmu, received the Best Student Adviser Award. Several lecturers, outstanding students, and outgoing NAPADS executives were also honoured during the ceremony.
The newly constructed NAPADS Secretariat, spearheaded by outgoing President Com. Hubaidat Opeyemi, was officially commissioned as part of the anniversary activities.
Speaking on behalf of the awardees, Mrs. Opeyemi Olawore and Mr. Ismail Alli urged students to remain diligent, focused, and uphold the values of the department wherever they go.
The week-long anniversary has been described by students and staff alike as a fitting celebration of PAD’s decade of academic and community achievements.
