Osun State Polytechnic Enforces Strict Dress Code for Students

The management of Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, has announced the enforcement of a strict dress code for students, aiming to curb what it describes as “indecent dressing” on campus.
In an internal memorandum issued by the Registrar, J. A. Fadeji, the institution stated that a monitoring committee has been established to ensure compliance. Students found violating the dress code will face disciplinary action by the Students Disciplinary Committee (SDC).
The banned outfits and styles include sagging trousers, ripped jeans, tattoos, dreadlocks for men, brightly colored hair extensions, armless blouses and shirts, transparent clothing, and mini skirts. The institution has also prohibited male students from curling their hair and female students from wearing long eyelashes or ankle chains.
According to the memo, the committee will conduct regular inspections across lecture halls, workshops, and laboratories to apprehend violators.
The memo emphasizes that the institution is committed to maintaining discipline and upholding its values, urging students to adhere to the new regulations to protect the institution’s reputation.
This enforcement follows a resolution passed by the Board of Studies on November 3, 2022, reinforcing the school’s stance on student dress codes.
Students are advised to comply with the new rules to avoid disciplinary measures.
