No Psychometric No NYSC – TOPS SUG Advise Students to Register for the Course
The Students Union government of The Oke Ogun Polytechnic (TOPS) has advised its students to register for the compulsory course, psychometric as it is part of requirements for the mobilization of prospective Corp members. The students union urged students that are unregistered to re-register adding that OND students without the course may not be admitted into other institutions for admission because the said course is part of accreditation requirements.
The Union stated this in a press statement credited to the office of the president. The statement read,
“The course was introduced to tertiary institutions by the NBTE, of which we were informed about the conditions attached to the Psychometric Studies that unregistered HND student will not be mobilized for NYSC and an OND student will not be allowed in another institution for HND program because the course Psychometric pave way to accreditation..
“As the Primary assignment of the UNION is to represent the interest of our dear Students, After a long session meeting where we stood on our grounds to annul the Psychometric course, we are happy to inform you that the course will be shifted to next session with the condition attached that all departmental Governors of ND1 and HND 1 will pen down their consent to this postponement with their signature.”
Speaking on the issue of medical Fee, the Union appealed to students to give the school management 3weeks to address the issue. “The Management also expresses how bad they feel about the condition of the medical centre and the medical services. They urge the entire student of TOPS to please endure for just 3weeks and also to address the medical payment as gateway for school fees is an ordered procedure for students complete registration.”
INDECENT DRESSING: HERITAGE POLYTECHNIC THREATEN TO SANCTION STUDENTS
The union said further that banning of private motorcycles (okada) in the polytechnic is a measure put in place to curtail security challenges in the campus and it’s for a short time, urged the students to be patient as they resolve the issue.
The union said “After a well detailed security reasons stated by the management for restrictions of Private Cars and Bikes, We had talks with them on the way forward to lift the ban. We want to use this precious medium to urge our dear students to please stay calm on this issue for just 2weeks while everything needed will be put in place, As the ban of bikes and cars is one of the security measures against some illegal activities on campus.”
