Seminar: Assoc. Prof. Rasak Adisa Engages Lenspoly Offa Students On Overcoming Procrastination, Self Doubt


The Associate Professor of Mass Communication from University of Ilorin, Rasak Adisa has exposed the students of Lens Polytechnic Offa to different ways of overcoming procrastination and self doubt to achieve success in life.
Associate Prof. Adisa engaged students of Mass Communication on Tuesday 8 April 2025 at the 5th Departmental Seminar and symposium programme held in Lens University auditorium.
Speaking on the topic, the erudite scholar noted that procrastination and self doubt are negative thinking which is caused by fear of failure, lack of motivation, overwhelm from tasks and common excuses. He added that self doubt delays decision making and limit opportunities for growth.
While explaining its impact on academic performance, he said procrastination and self doubt will make students to miss deadlines, increased stress levels and lower quality of work.
He therefore admonished the students to avoid procrastination and self doubt by not seeing themselves as failure, he urged them to always participate in academic and social activities to defeat self doubt. While citing the Proprietor of the Polytechnic as a perfect example that is worthy of emulation, he charged the students to visualise and tap into different career opportunities in mass communication such as content creation, digital marketing, blogging, podcasting, photography, social media management among others. He noted that the fields can be explored to achieve success.
Earlier in his opening address, the Proprietor of Lens Institutions, Dr. Azeez Yisa FCA commended department of mass communication for organising the seminar. He advised the students to discover themselves and have a determined mind to overcome procrastination.
Dr. Azeez described procratination as a thief of time which can hinder growth. He urged them to have their vision written down and work diligently to make sure they are able to fulfill their dreams.
In his vote of thanks, the Head of Department of Mass Communication, Mr. Adedimeji Lukman Alani emotionally appreciated the guest speaker for gracing the programme and engaging the students with valuable insights on how to kill procrastination and self doubt. He extended his appreciation to the Proprietor for providing him the opportunity to strive and enabling environment for teaching, learning and research.
