Lagos State Cooperative College Opens Recruitment for Academic and Administrative Roles

The Lagos State Cooperative College (LASCOCO), a government-owned institution established under the Lagos State Cooperative College Law of 2018, has announced a call for applications to fill several high-level academic and administrative positions. The recruitment is open to both internal and external candidates.
With a mandate to provide cutting-edge training, research, and ICT-based learning to cooperative professionals and the public at large, LASCOCO has, since the 2021/2022 academic session, received institutional accreditation from the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) to run National Diploma programs in Cooperative Economics and Management, Microfinance and Enterprise Development, and Computer Science.
According to the announcement released by the College’s Governing Council, applications are being accepted for the following positions:
- Provost
- Registrar
- Bursar
- College Librarian
- Principal Lecturer (Cooperative Economics and Management)
- Information and Systems Analyst
- Public Relations/Communication Officer
General Eligibility Criteria
All applicants must exhibit leadership ability, administrative competence, and excellent communication skills. Candidates should also possess demonstrable experience with ICT tools, innovative thinking, and familiarity with Lagos State educational reforms and cooperative sector initiatives. Integrity, professionalism, and compliance with public service employment guidelines are non-negotiable.
Position Details
Provost
As the chief academic and administrative officer, the Provost will provide strategic leadership, coordinate daily operations, and spearhead the institution’s development. Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in Social or Management Sciences (preferably Agricultural Economics), with at least 15 years of post-qualification teaching and research experience. At least five of those years must have been served as a Chief Lecturer, along with substantial administrative leadership experience in a higher institution.
Candidates should provide evidence of scholarly publications, research engagement at national and international levels, innovation, and resource mobilization skills. A proven track record of discipline, vision-driven leadership, and community service is essential.
Principal Lecturer – Cooperative Economics & Management
Applicants must hold at least a Master’s degree in a relevant field; a Ph.D. is preferred. A minimum of 10 years of teaching experience is required, including a solid publication record (minimum six conference papers and five journal articles). Candidates should also be able to demonstrate involvement in curriculum development and academic mentoring.
Registrar
This role involves overseeing administrative activities and serving as Secretary to key College governing bodies. A minimum of a good honours degree (Second Class Lower) in Humanities or Social Sciences is required. At least 10 years of relevant administrative experience, including three years in a tertiary institution, is mandatory. Additional qualifications such as a Master’s degree or membership in professional bodies like NIM, CIPM, or IPAN will be advantageous.
Bursar
The College is seeking a qualified financial expert to manage its financial affairs. Applicants should hold a degree in Accounting, Finance, or Economics and be fully certified by ICAN, ANAN, ACCA, or CPA. A minimum of 10 years’ experience in academic financial management is required. Familiarity with Lagos State’s treasury systems and modern ERP financial software will be considered an asset.
College Librarian
As head of the library system, the College Librarian is expected to oversee all library services and resources. A good honours degree in Library and Information Science is required, while a Ph.D. is considered an added advantage. Applicants must have at least 12 years of post-qualification experience, publications in reputable journals, and membership in professional library associations.
Information and Systems Analyst
Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree or HND in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related disciplines. Industry certifications (e.g., Cisco, Oracle, ITIL) are desirable. Strong experience in ICT support, systems integration, and data analysis in an educational or corporate setting is essential. Teaching competence is a plus.
Public Relations/Communication Officer
The College is seeking a media-savvy professional with a degree in Mass Communication, PR, or related fields. Candidates must have at least five years of post-qualification experience in corporate communications. Practical experience in media relations, digital content development, branding, and stakeholder engagement is expected. Membership in PR regulatory bodies such as NIPR or APCON is an advantage.
