Kano State Polytechnic Deputy Rector Calls for Partnership in Skills Development at Women Empowerment Programme

The Deputy Rector (Academic) of Kano State Polytechnic, Engr. Dr. Ibrahim Usman Aikawa, has called for stronger collaboration in skills acquisition and vocational training during the flag-off of a women empowerment programme held at the institution.

The programme, organized by the Futureedged Educational Foundation in partnership with Saye Vocational Training Centre, aims to equip 100 women with 11 different entrepreneurial and vocational skills. The event took place at the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN) Hall, School of Management Studies, Kano State Polytechnic, where the Deputy Rector served as the Special Guest of Honour.

Speaking at the event, Dr. Aikawa commended the organizers for their commitment to empowering women through practical skills and entrepreneurship training. He noted that vocational education remains a vital tool for promoting self-reliance, boosting economic growth, and supporting sustainable national development.

The Deputy Rector also urged the organizers to establish a strategic partnership with Kano State Polytechnic to expand skills acquisition initiatives. He explained that the institution’s Skills Development Centre is well-equipped with various vocational training facilities capable of supporting programmes that develop the skilled workforce required for the socio-economic advancement of Kano State and Nigeria.

The women empowerment programme is expected to provide participants with practical entrepreneurial skills that will enhance their capacity for self-employment and economic independence while contributing to community development.
