- Be citizens or refugees from eligible Commonwealth nations
- Hold a first degree (at least upper second-class honours) or a relevant postgraduate qualification
- Not already be registered for a PhD or MPhil leading to a PhD in the UK or their home country
- Demonstrate that they cannot afford the UK doctoral program without scholarship support

- Same application portal and procedure as the Master’s programme (via CSC Central + national nominator)
- Deadline: 14 October 2025, 16:00 BST
