FG Begins Payment to 42,000 TVET Trainees: Details on Stipends, Funding, and Training Support

The Federal Government has launched the first phase of direct financial support to 42,000 beneficiaries under its Technical and Vocational Education and Training programme. The initiative provides monthly stipends to students enrolled in technical skills programmes as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen youth empowerment and workforce development.

According to a statement issued by the Federal Ministry of Education’s Director of Press and Public Relations, Boriowo Folasade, the government has already completed payment to the first batch of trainees. Each beneficiary received a monthly allowance of N22,500 to support transportation and general upkeep throughout the duration of their training.

The ministry also confirmed that more than 600 accredited independent technical and vocational centres have received payments for the instructional services provided to the trainees. The funding ensures uninterrupted learning and enhances the quality of skills acquisition across the centres.

The statement added that this initial phase is only the beginning, noting that several additional batches of payments are planned as part of the programme’s long-term structure. The initiative is designed to provide continuous financial backing for trainees and ensure sustainable skills development for Nigerian youth.

The commencement of disbursements aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s directive to intensify investment in vocational education. The administration emphasised that equipping young Nigerians with market-relevant skills is essential for driving job creation, promoting entrepreneurship and accelerating national economic growth.

The statement highlighted that the TVET programme is a core component of the Renewed Hope Agenda, aimed at turning youth potential into productive economic output.
