FEC APPROVES SCRAPPING OF HND PROGRAMME- FAKE
The report trending on social media and some other speculated areas that the Federal Executive Council (FEC) has scrapped the award of Higher National Diploma (HND) certificate by polytechnics, and converted Kaduna Polytechnic and Yaba College of Technology (YABATECH) to a university is false and misleading as the report is old and not of recent.
There was never a time where the FEC scrapped the award of HND certificate. Moreso, the video being spread concerning the upgrade of kaduna polytechnic to university is an old video which was sometime In 2018 when senator shehu sani passed the bill in the senate for first hearing.
Part of the report quoted “A state that had never had any federal institution, like Bayelsa, is to have a College of Technology as a campus of the College of Technology of the University of Port Harcourt.” As a matter of fact, this was in 2018, Bayelsa state now has a federal institution and one of them is The Federal polytechnic Ekowe which was Established in the year 2009 and this has proven that the article/News/report is old and false.
The Federal Government has not scrapped the Award of Higher National Diploma certificate therefore students are to disregard the news as it does generate from authentic source.
The bill seeking the upgrade of kaduna polytechnic and Yaba College of Technology to a full fledged university is yet to be implemented.
Also, the bill seeking the upgrade of Auchi polytechnic to university was declined assent by president Buhari.
