Courses Offered in Nigerian Institute of Journalism Ogba Ikeja Lagos (NIJ), Their School Fees and Admission Requirements
The Nigerian Institute of Journalism is the foremost school of journalism in Nigeria which specializes in the training of Journalist and professionals in the field of Journalism. The Institute offers programs in National Diploma, Higher Diploma and specialized programs as well as short term certificate courses. The Institution has state of the art equipment in teaching practical for 21st Century journalism. Its selling edge is the Institutions ability to take on hands practical for all its courses with seasoned and renowned lecturers both in academics and those in the field practicing. The Institute has well equipped labs for practicing journalism, it’s has a fully equipped ICT hub with24 hour’s internet access, a functional radio and TV studio, Editing laboratory and photo studio.
The Institute has its own Online radio, which is PEN Radio live with our online Newspaper coming on board. Our Alumni are top notch in the media industry in Nigeria, and political space in Nigeria, among which are Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Korede Bello etc.

- HND Mass Communication
- Postgraduate Diploma in Print, Broadcast Journalism and Public Relations/Advertising
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS.
NATIONAL DIPLOMA (ND) PROGRAMMES.
- Five Credit passes in the WAEC or NECO Senior Secondary Certificate Examination or its equivalent in five subjects, including Mathematics, English Language and Literature in English.
- Student’s’ enrolment and admission is through (JAMB) Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
- At the end of the course, successful candidates are awarded the National Diploma.
- Duration: The programme is of four semesters (Two Academic Sessions) duration for Full-Time students and Six Semester (Three Academic Sessions) for Part-Time students.
HIGHER NATIONAL DIPLOMA (HND) PROGRAMMES
- Five Credit pass as it is for admission into National Diploma
- National Diploma in Mass Communication with a minimum of Lower Credit from a recognised and NBTE-accredited institution.
- Evidence/Proof of a one-year mandatory Industrial Attachment.
- Admission is made directly by the Institution.
- At the end of the course, successful candidates are awarded a Higher National Diploma in Mass Communication.
- Duration: The programme is Four-Semester (Two Academic Sessions) for Full-Time students and Six Semesters (Three Academic Sessions) for Part-Time students.
Post Graduate Diploma (PGD) Programmes.
- You must pass the following subject(s) in O’Level obtained at not more than 2 sittings. A credit pass in Mathematic, A credit pass in English Language and at least credit pass in 3 other subjects.
- First Degree or Higher National Diploma from a recognized institution.
- Duration: The programme is of Two semester (One Academic Session) duration for Full Time and Three semester for Part-Time students
