Osun State Polytechnic Cracks Down on Student Politics, Vandalism — Threatens Suspension and Expulsion

The Management of Osun State Polytechnic, Iree has issued a stern warning to all full-time students over rising cases of vandalism and unauthorized political activities on campus, especially linked to upcoming Student Union elections.
In an internal memorandum dated June 24, 2025, and signed by the Dean of Student Affairs, Dr. O. L. Abiola, the institution expressed serious concern over defacement of public roads, school buildings, and other properties under the guise of campaign activities.
The memo clearly states that student politicking on campus remains banned, and the prohibition has not been lifted. As such, any form of political campaign—including posters, graffiti, or writing on public or institutional property—is strictly forbidden.
“The Management strongly condemns this act of vandalism,” the statement read, warning that violators would face tough disciplinary actions. These include disqualification from contesting in future Student Union elections, suspension, or even expulsion, depending on the severity of the offense.
Students were reminded that maintaining a peaceful and orderly academic environment is non-negotiable. “All students are enjoined to comply with the above directive in their own interest,” the memo added.
This crackdown comes just as preparations for the Student Union election season appear to have heated up, sparking unregulated campaign tactics among eager contestants and supporters.
With this clear message from the school authorities, students are now on high alert, as the institution doubles down on discipline and reaffirms its zero-tolerance stance on vandalism and unauthorized campus politics.
Campus politics just got serious — break the rules, and you could be out.
