We’ll Make IMAP a Top Choice in Nigeria” – Governing Council Chair Vows During Facility Tour

The Chairman of the Governing Council of Isa Mustapha Agwai I Polytechnic (IMAP), Lafia, Gen. Iliyasu Isa Abbah (Rtd.), has pledged to transform the institution into one of Nigeria’s most sought-after polytechnics.
The retired military general made the commitment during a comprehensive three-hour inspection tour of the institution on Monday. The visit, led by members of the newly inaugurated Governing Council, was aimed at assessing existing facilities and identifying areas for development.
Gen. Abbah stated that his tenure as Chairman would focus on visionary leadership and concrete actions that will leave a lasting legacy. “We are not here to maintain the status quo. We are here to elevate this Polytechnic to a level that competes with the best in the country,” he declared.
Investment, Infrastructure, and Academic Excellence on the Agenda
He revealed plans to attract both local and international investment to the school through strategic partnerships. According to him, these partnerships will help drive academic excellence, improve infrastructure, and open new frontiers for development at IMAP.
“We will engage relevant bodies and stakeholders globally to bring the right investment and exposure to this institution. IMAP is ready for a new chapter of academic growth and infrastructural development,” he said.
Gen. Abbah also stressed the importance of unity and collaboration within the Polytechnic community, urging all staff and students to work together in building a resilient and forward-looking institution.
Staff Urged to Show Dedication
During the tour, the Governing Council Chairman visited key facilities including offices, laboratories, studios, and the campus clinic. He challenged staff members to carry out their responsibilities with a strong sense of duty and professionalism.
While inspecting incomplete structures such as hostels, lecture halls, and the Polytechnic library, Gen. Abbah expressed his resolve to ensure the projects are completed and fully utilized.
“This administration will not allow any structure to waste. We will put every building to productive use to serve the needs of our students and staff,” he assured.
Top Management Present at the Tour
Accompanying the Chairman on the tour were the Rector of the institution, Assoc. Prof. Nurudeen Muazu Maifata, Registrar Zamani Habu Ibrahim, other members of the Governing Council, and key staff of the Polytechnic.
The inspection was coordinated by the Directorate of Information, Public Relations, and Protocol of IMAP, Lafia.
