Updated List of African Countries Nigerians Can Visit Without Visa in 2026

Nigerian passport holders can now enjoy easier access to several African countries as more nations continue to relax visa requirements for Nigerian travellers.

The updated visa-free travel list now includes Rwanda, a development expected to strengthen tourism, business opportunities, regional trade, and cross-border movement across the African continent.

Travel experts say the expansion of visa-free access for Nigerians reflects growing efforts by African countries to promote regional integration, economic cooperation, and seamless movement within Africa.

Many of the countries offering visa-free entry to Nigerians are members of the Economic Community of West African States, commonly known as ECOWAS, which supports free movement of citizens among member states.

The policy allows Nigerians to travel to several African destinations without applying for a visa before departure, making travel more convenient for tourism, education, business, investment, and family visits.

Below is the updated list of African countries Nigerians can visit without a visa in 2026:

Benin
Burkina Faso
Cameroon
Cape Verde
Chad
Côte d’Ivoire
The Gambia
Ghana
Guinea
Guinea-Bissau
Kenya
Liberia
Mali
Niger
Rwanda
Senegal
Sierra Leone
Togo

Travel analysts believe the growing number of visa-free destinations could encourage more Nigerians to explore business expansion, tourism investments, educational opportunities, and regional partnerships across Africa.

However, travellers are still advised to ensure they possess valid international passports and other supporting travel documents before departure.

Immigration authorities in some countries may request additional requirements such as hotel reservations, proof of accommodation, return flight tickets, evidence of sufficient funds, travel insurance, or vaccination certificates upon arrival.

Experts also urged Nigerian travellers to stay updated on individual country immigration policies, as visa regulations and entry requirements may change periodically depending on diplomatic agreements and border policies.

The latest development comes amid increasing calls for stronger implementation of the African continental free movement agenda aimed at improving trade, tourism, and economic growth across the continent.
