Stop Spreading Fake News, Hate Speech – FedPolyAdo Management Caution Students
The management of the Federal Polytechnic Ado-Ekiti, has cautioned students against the spread of fake news and hate speech on social media, adding that doing such is capable of disrupting peace and development of the Polytechnic community.
The school management vows to deal with any defaulter of this directive.
According to a circular obtained by POLYTV, the school management further warned that it would no longer tolerate any hate speech and fake news from students and staff in the institution.
The circular reads
“The attention of the Governing Council has been drawn to the rising incidences of fake news and hate speech being disseminated on various social media platforms among Staff and Students of the Polytechnic.

“The Governing Council at its 110 Statutory Meeting held on Thursday, 17 and Friday, 18 March, 2022, deliberated on the issue and stated that the spread of fake news and hate speect on social media platforms or through any other medium would no longer be tolerated.
“Staff and Students are enjoined to note that dissemination of fake news and hate speech have the potentials of disrupting the progress, peace and development of the Polytechnic Community”

Management added that “The Governing Cound has directed that all Staff and Students should be informed that all proven cases of fake news and hate speeches would be dealt with in line with the extant laws, rules and regulations governing such matters.”
