Polytechnics that offer ND/HND Leisure & Tourism Management with their Entry Requirements
This programme is designed to produce Tourism personnel capable of planning, managing and promoting leisure and tourism activities, such as travel and tours, in door and outdoor activities for leisureand recreation, education and business.
At the end of the course, the diplomat should be able to carry out the following tasks:-
1. Assist the tourism officer in carrying out simple tourism research and preparing reports on tourism and travel opportunities in a locality.
2. Organize indoor and outdoor functions such as tours, excursions, events and other forms of group engagements.
3. Supervise medium-sized travel agencies, and related establishments, reservations, issue tickets and determine fares for tourist groups and individuals.
4. Guide tourists.
5. Assist in organizing fairs to promote trade through tourism.
6. Organize and manage public entertainments and recreation.
7. Assist in guest relation activities and service delivery in hospitality establishments.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:
1. The minimum entry requirement into the National Diploma in Leisure and Tourism Management is four credit level passes in the West African School Certificate (WASC), Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSSC) General Certificate of Education (GCE) Ordinary Level, or NECO in not more than two sittings. The subjects must include English Language and Geography; and any two from the following: History, Economics, Government, Mathematics, Biology, Food and Nutrition, and French.
2. Candidates who have successfully completed the Board’s recognized Pre-National Diploma (Science and Technology) course may be admitted into this programme. Such student must have
passed English Language and Geography; and any two of History, Economics, Government, Mathematics, Biology, Food and Nutrition, French at WASC, SSSC, GCE ‘O’ LEVEL OR NEC+O or their equivalent in not more than two sittings.
At the end of the course, the HND diplomate should be able to carry out the following tasks:-
1. Organize tourism surveys and prepare reports and forecasts on leisure and tourism in a locality.
2. Organize indoor and outdoor functions such as tours, excursions, events and other forms of group engagements, both for leisure and business tourism.
3. Organize and manage travel agencies and related organisations.
4. Organize fairs and other marketing events to promote tourism and trade.
5. Perform line management activities in leisure and tourism businesses such as Hotels, Holiday Resorts, safari camps and other related establishments in a profitable manner.

Where Do Leisure & Tourism Management Graduates Work?
You may choose to specialize in a particular aspect of the leisure and tourism industries, such as hotels, restaurants, attractions, events, tours or travel. You may also have the opportunity to explore issues such as the impact of tourism on local communities, economies and the environment; national tourism policies and initiatives; how leisure and tourism interact with heritage and culture; or issues relating to urban planning and redevelopment.
