Polytechnics that Offer ND/HND Architectural Technology with their Entry Requirements
At the end of the National Diploma programme in Architectural Technology, the diplomats will be able to:
- Read, interpret and trace drawing;
- Produce Letter and stencil drawing sheets;
- Produce Scale, dimension, blow-up and reduce drawings;
- Produce basic presentation and perspective drawings;
- Make a good freehand sketch;
- Produce basic presentation and perspective drawings;
- Build simple models;
- Print, fold and collate drawings for submission;
- Set out simple buildings.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
The general entry requirements into the National Diploma in Architectural Technology programme are:
Post basic Education Certificate (Post JSS) with at least 5 credit level passes at not more than two sittings in the following examinations or equivalent:
- i) WASSCE/SSCE/GCE
- English Language, Mathematics, Physics and any two subjects from the following:Biology/Agricultural Science, Chemistry, Geography, Further Mathematics, Economics/Commerce, Technical Drawing/Graphic Design, Painting & Decoration/Fine Art, Building Construction, Woodwork, Basic Electronics, Computer Studies.A pass in Technical Drawing/Fine Art will be an advantage.
- ii) NTC/NBC English Language, Mathematics, Physics and any two subjects from the following: Biology/Agricultural Science, Chemistry, Financial Accounting, Draughtsman ship/Graphic Design, Painting & Decoration, Introduction to Building Construction, Block laying/Bricklaying & Concreting, Machine Woodworking, Electrical Installation & Maintenance Works, Computer Craft Studies
- NVC English Language, Mathematics, Physics and any two trade subjects from the following: Block Laying & Concreting, Carpentry & Joinery, Computer Studies, Electrical Installation & Repair Works, Agriculture..
The Higher National Diploma programme in Architectural Technology is aimed at producing higher technicians for the architectural profession and other sectors of the building industry within the private and the public sectors. At the end of the Higher National Diploma programme in Architectural Technology, the diplomate will be able to:
- Prepare space programmes and working drawings for architectural projects;
- Develop spatial relationship, circulation and area diagrams;
- Prepare design drawings;
- Interpret technical drawings and specifications and incorporate such details in the architectural working drawings;
- Supervise construction works and make progress reports on simple structures;
- Make presentation drawings of architectural works and draw detailed perspective with necessary renderings and requisite
- colour scheme;
- Make detailed architectural models;
- Undertake preliminary site investigation in relation to orientation, landscape, environment, soil form etc;
- Collect information and date on simple architectural projects;
- Write specifications for simple building projects.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS FOR THE HND PROGRAMME
The general entry requirements into the Higher National Diploma in Architectural Technology programme are:
1. The National Diploma with a minimum of lower credit pass in Architectural Technology obtained from an NBTE accredited programme plus a minimum of one-year Post-ND cognate work experience in the field of Architecture.
2. Candidates with ND at pass level and a minimum of two-year post-ND work experience may also be considered for admission into the HND Architectural Technology programme.

- Real estate firms
- Building contractors and construction companies
- Universities and universities of technology
- Government and local government departments
- Self-employment, some architectural technologists are able to set up on their own.
