OGWASHI-UKU ROBBERY SAGA: DSPG MANAGEMENT CAUTION AGAINST SPREADING FAKE NEWS

The Rector of the Delta State polytechnic Ogwashi UK, Bldr. Prof. Emmanuel Achuenu and Management of Delta State Polytechnic, Ogwashi-uku has called on the media Practitioners, students and general public to be cautious of fake news spread by ignorance sections of the society.
The Rector make the call this morning in his office when members of the Nigeria Union Of Journalist(NUJ) Delta State Chapter visited his office to clarify issues surrounding the Polytechnic and the students wellbeing.
During the press conference, the Rector reinstated his administration commitment to the safety of the students and calls for a more collaborative synergy with the press to be objective in their day to day reportage.
According to the Academic Don, “there is every need for the press to report events with all sense of objectivity so as not to misled the general reading public, since the public believes in what the press report to them”.
While briefing the newsmen, the Rector used the opportunity to express his heartfelt gratitude to the press for finding time to visit his office to clarify sensitive issues bothering on the well-being of the students, the Polytechnic environment and the host community(Ogwashi-uku). It shows that the press is the hope of the common man in the society, the Rector noted.
Meanwhile, the tension generated from the recent robbery saga in Ogwashi-uku community has been brought under control as the Traditional Ruler of Ogwashi-uku Kingdom, His Royal Majesty(HRM) Obi Ifechukwude Okonjo ll has called for a stakeholders meeting to address the challenges, while patrol vehicles are now provided and patrol activities by the security agencies has been intensified in the inner streets of the community.
